Alumna pledges $1 million for access scholarships

This fall, Jewell has received $3 million in pledges for leadership gifts supporting the student experience. Among these transformative gifts includes $1 million from Dianne Shumaker, Class of 1966, for access scholarships, helping ensure that all students have access to a Jewell education. Focused on underserved populations, access scholarships make college available and affordable for bright high school students and also help enhance the diversity of perspectives and experiences within the campus community. The College is excited about Shumaker’s generous gift and the impact it will have on young lives.

Shumaker is a longtime supporter of Jewell, with past gifts for social justice, diversity and inclusion, first-generation students scholarships, and living and learning experiences such as Shumaker Hall Sorority Houses and Greek Common, Pryor Learning Commons and Jewellverse technology initiatives.
