At William Jewell we believe that business goes beyond the mastery of functional business skills to include transformational leadership and ethical decision making. Today’s employers are looking for employees who can thrive in a constantly changing environment that involves complex decision making and the ability to find and solve problems through analytical and critical thinking. Jewell business faculty take this challenge seriously and provide an education that develops these strengths in our students.
We base our program on three pillars:
Knowledge of concepts that form the foundation of business theory and practice. Both timely and timeless, this provides a foundation of wisdom and strength through the study and pursuit of fundamental business concepts and exposure to innovative, cutting-edge business practices.
Learning by doing. This supporting pillar provides a laboratory to put knowledge into practice through hands-on experiences such as class projects with real-time business clients, consulting engagements with faculty and clients, internships, and real-world case studies. The second pillar offers students a safe environment in which to shape and polish the knowledge base into a solid skill set ready for the marketplace.
Learning from the best - is also a supporting pillar and allows students to interact with distinguished business and civic leaders. In intimate, conversational settings on campus, these leaders work with students to share their insights regarding developing issues in their fields as well as their essential wisdom based on life-time career experiences.
These pillars provide opportunities for Jewell graduates to succeed in the constantly changing business environment and be change agents in the organizations in which they start their business careers.
We are extremely proud of our alumni who you can find in positions of leadership all over the globe. Our small size and outstanding faculty to student ratio allows us to expose our students to challenging problems, support them in their analysis and decision making and develop first-rate communication skills in order to present their ideas and themselves to future employers.
I invite you to take some time to review our website. Take a look at our alumni profiles and some of the great things are graduates are engaged in. Check out our experiential based curriculum and the consulting engagements and internships Jewell students are benefitting from. Also, please come and visit us on our beautiful campus located just outside of Kansas City.
