Long gone are the days when an internship was something you did over the summer to earn a little extra money. Interns today are not just making copies and running errands to cover for vacationing staff. These days a selective internship is more akin to an extended job interview, and it can really empower a student’s professional resume. Our students hold positions for an entire semester, sometimes longer. Employers consider internships to be a key tool to identify—and hire—top entry-level candidates in an intensely competitive marketplace. The best and brightest college graduates are sought after during their junior year, and opportunities for capable students are as varied as their interests.
Students at Jewell may elect to earn college credit for approved and supervised internships. Registering for credit allows them to have the experience recorded on their transcript and to also consider their internship work schedule as part of their semester workload. For additional information, contact Professor Debbie Scarfino at scarfinod AT william.jewell DOT edu.

"Jewell prepared me well for an internship at ATD Flight Systems in Kansas City. By getting to know more about the world of business through the classroom, I was able to put my skills in place at ATD doing customer relations as well as marketing projects. Through my internship, I experienced the business world in a field I want to pursue after graduation."
