As a first-year student entering Jewell, you will be placed in a mentor group. This group is led by a mentor—a carefully selected current student trained in helping new students adjust to Jewell—who will guide you and your classmates through the four days of activities designed to help students get to know their new home.
The mentor process begins before you arrive at Jewell. During the summer, your mentor will be in contact with you and your parents to answer questions (no matter how silly) and ease anxieties. If you have already pre-registered we hope you have been contacted by your mentor. If you haven’t heard from anyone, let Mary Dickerson, First-Year Experience Director, know at (816) 415-5229.
Once you arrive at Jewell, your mentor will continue to provide a helping hand, from leading you through orientation to unloading your car on move-in day.
