Character for All:
A joint initiative of the Liberty Public
Schools, the Liberty Area Chamber of
Commerce and SIFE includes a literary
campaign and specially focused lessons tied
to a defined character trait for each
month. SIFE students created coloring
activity pages for distribution at the
Mid-Continent Public Library to coordinate
with featured books of the month made
available in schools, public libraries and
local bookstores. Additionally, SIFE has
developed plans for classroom visits that
encourage students to think about and
practice that month’s character trait.
Themes being explored are: caring,
perseverance, honesty, self-discipline,
sense of humor, courage and citizenship
Character Choices:
Choices develop our character and our
character determines our choices. Is
achievement tied to ethical competence?
Whose values are best and how do culturally
defined responses affect global business
concerns? SIFE students are working to
answer these questions through primary
research with plans to share results in an
open forum presentation.
