Tell me about Jewell’s Oxbridge Honors Program

Though Jewell provides an honors college environment for all of our students, our Oxbridge Honors Program is one of the most distinctive honors programs in the country. In fact, it’s more like graduate school for undergraduates with a year at Oxford or Cambridge thrown in.

Students admitted to the Oxbridge program go head-to-head with professors in weekly tutorial sessions. Your professor creates your syllabus then you go to work independently. You’ll spend your junior year studying at Oxford or Cambridge. Oxbridgers are bold, self-reliant, independent, headstrong, determined, and adventurous. The program is writing-intense, thought-provoking, and idea-challenging. We don’t recommend it for the faint-of-heart!

Candidates for the Oxbridge Honors Program should have a minimum 28 ACT or 1260 SAT (CR+M) and a 3.75 GPA. Approximately 20 students are accepted into the Oxbridge Program annually. Once admitted to the program you’ll be awarded an automatic scholarship valued at $15,000 annually.

To read more about the Oxbridge Honors Program, click here.

To apply for the Oxbridge Program:

  • Complete Jewell's Application for Admission but substitute the Oxbridge Essay for the general essay.
  • Send two letters of academic recommendation (please request teacher recommendations).
  • Interview with the Oxbridge Committee (if selected for an interview you’ll be notified)
  • In weeks following the interview you’ll be notified by the Senior Oxbridge tutor of the decision.
