The Jewell Scholarship Program
Each year the College awards a limited number of Jewell Scholarships to incoming first-year students who present characteristics representative of a William Jewell student. The selection committee reviews applications and evaluates based on both academic credentials and honors, as well as community involvement, leadership, and awards.
To apply for the Jewell Scholarship your William Jewell College Application for Admission and supporting academic credentials must be submitted to the College and postmarked by January 10, 2011.
Award amounts for 2011- 2012 are: $15,000, $17,000, or full-tuition.
A Jewell Scholarship will replace any lowoer value merit scholarship or Oxbridge Scholarship that may have been previously awarded.
Minimum academic requirements to participate in the Jewell Scholarship Application process:
27 ACT or 1220 SAT (CR+M) and either 3.5 GPA or top 20% class rank (full-tuition scholarships require top 10% of class).
Application Instructions and requirements:
Step 1. Complete the following two items and email to admission AT william.jewell DOT edu or mail to the Admission Office at the address listed below (please include your name, high school and mailing address with your submission so that we can easily match it to your application):
--Submit the Jewell Scholarship Essay by answering one of the following questions:

In a world dominated by rapidly changing cultures and technological advances, describe the role that a liberal arts education can play in preparing you to contribute to the global community?

What is your favorite book and why?
--Submit an updated leadership, service and co-curricular involvement resume.
Step 2. Attend the required Scholar Recognition Day* on January 29th, February 5th or February 19th. To register, call or email your admission counselor.
Deadline for consideration: All Jewell Scholarship application materials must be received by the Office of Admission by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 28th , 2011.
* To be eligible to receive the Jewell Scholarship, applicants must attend one of the three listed Scholar Recognition Days, or schedule an individual scholarship visit by Friday, February 18th, 2011.
Selection of Jewell Scholars will be completed by March 1. Recipients will be notified by their admission counselor by phone, and then officially, by mail.
