I work with students from St. Louis, MO, Illinois, and students from many other states outside of the Midwest!
My hometown: Wentzville, MO
High School Attended: Wentzville Holt High School (back when there was only one!)
What I think makes William Jewell College special: THE JEWELL COMMUNITY - the people in it make Jewell a very special place! We have an intensity of our faculty; their determination to help students succeed is real! The opportunity of growth that happens in four short years is extraordinary; Jewell is instrumental in helping students.
My favorite spot on the Jewell campus: In a pew, a few rows back in Grand River Chapel. This small chapel brings so many memories back to me. It’s a special place that you have to experience as a student. Fun fact, I also really enjoy the porch swing on the Doniphan House, it’s where I was proposed to, nearly 10 years ago!
College Degree: Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication
During my college years, I was involved in: Resident Life, Greek Life, Pryor Leadership, College Radio, Christian Student Ministries and many other things.
In my spare time, I enjoy . . . spending time with my family and friends. Relationships are very important to me and feel that if you don’t cultivate them, they don’t grow. With my husband Patrick and daughter Avery, we enjoy all St. Louis offers its citizens, free events such as fairs, museums, and outdoor concerts. And you can’t talk about enjoying St. Louis without mentioning the Cardinals. We also enjoy bike riding, taking walks and going to the park.
Words of wisdom for your college years: I can tell you things that I wish that I would have done looking back. I wished that I would have studied harder; taken a more intense initiative to soak in as much as I could from my peers and faculty around me. I appreciate Jewell’s education much more than I did going through it. I wished I could have recognized that as an 18 year old. Secondly, I wish that I would have made the decision to study abroad. While you are at Jewell, you have no responsibilities but to your studies. Now, life doesn’t allow the freedoms that it did during my college years. . . What other time in your life will you be able to back pack across Europe with your friends!
