The Jewell Scholarship Program

Each year the College awards a limited number of Jewell Scholarships to incoming first-year students who present the best characteristics representative of a William Jewell student. The selection committee reviews applications and evaluates candidates based on both academic credentials and honors, as well as community involvement, service, leadership, and awards.

To be considered for the Jewell Scholarship students must first be admitted to the College. If you have not yet applied, your William Jewell College Application for Admission, high school transcripts and official ACT or SAT test scores must be received by the Office of Admission by Friday, January 27th, 2012 in order to be eligible for this scholarship opportunity.

Scholarship amounts for 2012- 2013 are: $16,000, $17,000, or select full-tuition awards.

A Jewell Scholarship will replace any lower value Acheiver or Presidential Scholarship that may have been previously awarded.

Minimum academic requirements to participate in the Jewell Scholarship Application process:
27 ACT or 1210 SAT (CR+M) and a 3.5 GPA.

Jewell Scholarship Application Instructions and Requirements:

Step 1. Complete the following two items and email them to admission AT william.jewell DOT edu, or mail to the Admission Office at the address listed below (please include your name, high school and mailing address with your submission so that we can easily match it to your record): 

• Submit the Jewell Scholarship Essay by answering following questions:
  • "Are you biased? Why or why not?"
   
• Submit an up-to-date leadership, service and involvement resume.

 Step 2.  Attend one of Jewell's Scholar Recognition Days* on January 28th, February 4th or February 18th, 2012. To register, call or email your admission counselor.

Deadline for consideration: All Jewell Scholarship application materials must be received by the Office of Admission by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17^th , 2012.

*  To be eligible to receive the Jewell Scholarship, applicants must attend one of the three listed Scholar Recognition Days, or schedule an individual scholarship visit by Friday, February 17^th, 2012.

Recipients will be notified of their award in early March.
