Local Missions and Mission Trips

Our students are ready, willing, and able to make a difference where ever they are. From the streets of Kansas City, to the third world villages of Central America and Africa, we provide environments where students can carry out the "Great Commission."  In past years we have sent teams to serve in Pensacola, Florida, to do debris removal following Hurricane Ivan and a team of about 30 students traveled to New Orleans to do "Mud-Out" work in homes after Hurricane Katrina. Equipping and empowering students to put their faith in action is what our campus mission projects are all about. In 2007 our campus will travel to the gulf again and to New York City to do several inner-city projects. Every May we send 3 teams to do health care, construction and ministry in rural Honduras.

Service Projects

At Jewell service and spiritual growth go hand in hand. All year long special events provide opportunities for service and learning. In the fall we kick-off our homecoming week with a day of service called "Serve and Celebrate." Hundreds of students are mobilzed to provide help to a wide variety of service providers, soup kitchens, nursing homes, homeless shelters, and food banks.

This year the sophomore class has partnered with other local agencies and will build a Habitat for Humanity house, right here in Liberty.

Other local partnerships have lead to a handful of other worthwhile efforts including: Building Together Liberty, Serve Liberty Day, Tutoring at El Centro Hispanic Community Center, and Hillcrest Ministries.
