Careers in Chemistry

A profession for which direct training is available at WJC is teaching in secondary education.

While a majority of our majors in chemistry and biochemistry go on to graduate school before deciding on a career, many employment opportunities are usually available to chemists with a BA degree.

The best source of information about careers in chemistry is the American Chemical Society. Their Office of Career Services of is very helpful in providing facts and figures about work in chemistry as well as a library of publications and links concerning careers.

Details about jobs in chemistry from A (agricultural chemistry) to W (water chemistry) are also provided through the ACS.

The National Academies has recently published a report titled "Preparing Chemists and Chemical Engineers for a Globally Oriented Workforce.
