Celebrate the holidays with Jewell

Alumni and friends of William Jewell are invited to enjoy holiday festivities sponsored by the College. All events are open to the public at no charge, with the exception of the Canadian Brass concert and the Liberty Symphony Orchestra concert. Jewell’s holiday calendar includes the following events:

Hanging of the Green, 10:15 a.m., November 20
John Gano Memorial Chapel, William Jewell College campus, Liberty
An all-campus musical celebration, featuring the Handbell Choir, Jazz Band and Chapel Choir

Lighting of the Quad, 7 p.m., November 21
John Gano Memorial Chapel and Quad, William Jewell College campus, Liberty  
A celebration of the season in Gano Chapel, followed by a lighting ceremony on the Quad featuring the Symphonic Band

Harriman-Jewell Series: Canadian Brass Holiday Concert, 7 p.m., December 2
Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts: Helzberg Hall
Five tremendous brass musicians form the legendary Canadian Brass, joined by organist Douglas Reed.

Liberty Symphony Orchestra Holiday Concert featuring “Simple Gifts,” 7:30 p.m., December 7
Liberty Performing Arts Theatre, 1600 Withers Road, Liberty
Special holiday concert featuring "Simple Gifts" from Copland's Appalachian Spring, the winners of the Liberty Symphony Orchestra's high school artist competition and a selection of holiday favorites

Schola Cantorum, Service of Advent Lessons and Carols, 5 p.m., December 8
Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, Broadway at 13th Street, Kansas City

Jazz Band Christmas Concert, 5 p.m., December 8
Forbis Recital Hall, Pillsbury Music Center, William Jewell College campus, Liberty

The City Come Again, noon (doors open at 11:30 a.m.; musical prelude begins at 11:35 a.m.), December 9
Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, Broadway at 13th Street, Kansas City
Jewell’s gift, in words and music, to the city, featuring the college’s Handbell Choir, Concert Choir and Dr. Ann Marie Rigler, organ, with Mr. Phil Schaefer, trumpet. Dr. David Sallee, college president, will offer a seasonal homily along with a prayer and scripture reading from the Very Reverend Peter DeVeau, dean of Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral.
