Members of the ballroom dance class at William Jewell College will host the “First Annual William Jewell Ball” from 7 to 9:30 p.m. April 23 in the Atrium of the Yates-Gill College Union on the campus in Liberty, Mo. Attire is formal. The event is free for all William Jewell students; admission is $5 per person for others. The public is invited to attend.
For the first half hour, students enrolled in the ballroom dance class will be completing their final practicum, during which they must demonstrate four steps in each of two dances. Guests may dance or watch during this time. From 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., DJs will be playing dance music. Before each song is played, DJs will announce the dance or dances most suited to the music. Class members submitted favorite songs, which have been matched to the appropriate dance.
Dances will include Fox Trot, Bachata, Merengue, Cha Cha, West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, Waltz, Night Club Two Step, Rumba, Salsa, Tango and Polka. Class members will be wearing name tags, and will be available to demonstrate dance steps to guests. There will also be refreshments served. Instructors Paula Marie Daub and Dr. Will Adams will be present and available to give instruction on request. |
