William Jewell Department of Nursing stands apart due to its strong commitment to liberal arts, leadership and clinical excellence. All nursing students are exposed to the distinctive liberal arts orientation of William Jewell College and are able to understand the notion of mind/body/spirit, not only within the context of nursing, but also through a variety of courses in the liberal studies curriculum. The clear focus on the “whole person” gives William Jewell nursing students a decided advantage in understanding the complexities of the people they will care for as nurses.

Emphasis on clinical excellence shows in over 800 hours of clinical and laboratory learning students experience in addition to their classroom instruction. The effectiveness of our focused curriculum can be measured by the results of the nurse licensing exam students take post-graduation. View our nursing outcomes.

1 Program, 4 Tracks
The Department of Nursing offers four educational tracks for obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree In Nursing. Each educational track offers the same nursing curriculum and requirements, earning the program a well-deserved reputation of being the premiere baccalaureate nursing program in the region.

In the four-year track, the first three semesters are dedicated to pre-requisite and liberal arts studies courses, and the remaining five semesters are devoted to a combination of academic work in nursing and liberal arts studies. A student may enter the BSN track as a first-semester freshman (declared major or direct admit) or enter as a transfer student when nursing courses begin.

William Jewell also offers two accelerated tracks in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program (BSN-AT). These options allow students with BA or BS degrees in other fields who have completed seven pre-requisite courses to complete a BSN in either 12 or 16 months.

For current nurses with associate degrees, the RN-BSN track offers all the benefits of a liberal arts education in an online format that fits a busy lifestyle. Associate-prepared nurses can earn their BSN in as little as 18 months.
