The Department of Music at William Jewell College presents the Flute Choir in concert on Tuesday, May 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Forbis Recital Hall in the Pillsbury Music Center on the Liberty campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
The Flute Choir will present Georg Philipp Telemann’s "Trio Sonate" for two flutes and continuo with Betty Dunham, harpsichord, and first-year student Grace Bunton, cello, from Liberty. "Duet" by American composer Rodger Nixon will allow the opportunity to hear the rich voice of the alto flute. The program will conclude with "Andante and Rondo" by Franz Doppler. Doppler, a flutist, composer and conductor, was one of two brothers who performed in the late 1800s and subsequently wrote many works for two flutes in the neo Romantic style. Members of the group are sophomore Sabra Cain from Jerome, Idaho, and Florence Cunningham, Liberty Symphony Orchestra staff. The Flute Choir is under the direction of Elaine Brown.
