William Jewell College offers a full calendar of public events in music, theatre and lectures for the fall season. All events are open to the public on the Liberty, Mo., campus, and many are free or are offered for a nominal admission fee. Lectures
The Everett P. Truex Economic and Financial Forum, 7:30 p.m., October 27, Gill Family Meeting Room, Yates-Gill College Union. Speaker: Peter deSilva, President and COO, UMB Financial Corporation.

The Willard Lecture, 7 p.m. November 18, Yates-Gill College Union Room 221. Speaker: Dr. Tara Allen, the Dr. Burnell Landers Chair and associate professor of biology at William Jewell College.

Music
Jewell Artist Series with Jack Winerock, piano, 7:30 p.m. October 7, John Gano Memorial Chapel.

Café Diva, 7:30 p.m. October 8, Yates-Gill College Union. An evening of Broadway, opera and jazz featuring William Jewell College music faculty, student soloists, the Jazz Band and introducing Melodic Sensations. Desserts and beverages will be served. Cost is $12 per person; call 816-415-7537 for tickets.

Goldenberg Duo in recital, 5:30 p.m. October 20, Forbis Recital Hall, Pillsbury Music Center.

Rock Out/Reach Out, benefit concert for the College’s Center for Justice and Sustainability, 7 p.m. October 23, Uptown Theatre; performers include Oriole Post, Sarah Swenson, The Model Congress and O, Giant Man

Symphonic Band, 3 p.m. October 31, John Gano Memorial Chapel.

Chapel Choir, 7:30 p.m. October 31, John Gano Memorial Chapel.

Handbell/Flute Choir, 7:30 p.m. November 2, John Gano Memorial Chapel.
The Flute Choir, under the direction of Elaine Brown, will present Praise the Lord with Flutes written originally for pipe organ by Sigfrid Karg-Elert; The Academy of Dance by Catherine McMichael for flute choir and piano; and Haru No Umi by Michio Miyagi. The program will feature the entire flute family: piccolo, concert flute, alto and bass flutes. The Handbell Choir, under the direction of Christie White, will be performing original compositions for bells including Prairie Suite by Kathleen Wissinger and A Festive Chime by Kevin McChesney, directed by student-conductor Joseph Johnson.
