Commencement speaker Dr. Ollie Malone, Jr. is president of Olive Tree Associates, a consulting firm providing executive coaching and organizational consulting to organizations in the United States, Canada and beyond. Prior to his current role, Dr. Malone gained over 30 years of experience in the field of organizational psychology, working for companies such as AT&T, Sprint, Mead Corporation and Pennzoil-Quaker State. He also has experience in computer programming, education of the hearing impaired, marketing and finance.
Dr. Malone graduated from Jewell in 1975 with a degree in communication. As a student at Jewell, he was active in music, theater and Christian Student Ministries. He was named Mr. School Spirit and received the Colonel Alexander Doniphan Award, an honor bestowed to the senior man deemed most likely to succeed. Upon graduating, Dr. Malone continued his education at the University of Kansas, where he earned a master’s degree in hearing and speech. In addition to his MBA, Dr. Malone holds doctorate degrees in adult learning and development as well as transformational leadership.
The author of four books, a book chapter and numerous articles on leadership, Dr. Malone is also a member of the College’s Board of Trustees, an avid musician and tennis player, husband to his wife, Patricia, father to his son, Nathan, and grandfather to four girls.
