Commencement Day 2015: Saturday, May 16
Commencement Day Schedule
Commencement Day Instructions for Seniors
Applying for Graduation: Students are expected to apply for graduation when they reach 75 completed hours, in order to be properly tracked by the Office of the Registrar. An Application for Graduation must be completed online to be submitted electronically to the Office of the Registrar. Students planning to graduate May 2015, July 2015 and December 2015 should have applied for graduation by now. Seniors who have not applied for graduation will not be cleared to enroll in a required CTI capstone course, and will not be included in distribution of information to grad candidates. Students who change their anticipated graduation date must re-apply for graduation by submitting a new online Application to the Registrar's Office.

The Annual Grad Fair is held in March for upcoming May/July grad candidates, as well as previous December grads. The 2015 Grad Fair will be held on Wednesday, March 11. This event is held in the Bookstore lobby and is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to accommodate students' schedules (takes about 30 minutes). Grad candidates visit each of several "offices" in a "one-stop-shop" setting to "take care of business" -- verify diploma name, mailing address and degree information with the Registrar, check student account balance with the Business Office, sign exit papers for student loans, rent academic regalia (take it home over Spring Break for pressing and hanging), visit with Herff-Jones representatives about announcements, college rings and other graduation-related items. Grad candidates should watch their email for information about the upcoming Grad Fair beginning late Fall. Students who cannot attend the Grad Fair for any reason will receive a checklist of things they need to do before leaving campus.
Jewell's Commencement Ceremony is held once each year in May (Commencement 2015 will be held on Saturday, May 16th). Students eligible to participate include the previous December's graduates and candidates for graduation for both May and July. Only grad candidates who are listed as "on-track" for graduation will be eligible to walk at Commencement. May grad candidates are notified in January of their "on-track status" in order to rectify any discrepancies or re-apply for graduation, if necessary (see Applying for Graduation above). The Commencement Day schedule includes Baccalaureate service that morning (participation is optional), brunch for grads and families, Commencement ceremony and photo ops. The schedule for the day will be posted to this site mid-Spring semester.
Academic Regalia Policy and Info: Grad candidates who walk at Commencement are required to rent their regalia through the Jewell Bookstore. Academic regalia includes mortar board cap, bachelors' gown and hood in a specific style and red tassel to keep. (High school regalia or borrowed regalia will not be allowed.) Regalia for each May Commencement is available for rental only at the Campus Bookstore beginning on the day of the Grad Fair in March. Grad candidates should watch this site and their email for upcoming information regarding regalia.
Commencement Photography: Grads who walk at May Commencement will receive an email with photo proofs taken on the stage and with their diploma cover. Grads should check your Jewell email account for an email from Grad Images. Grads and their families who wish to purchase Commencement photographs may order online at www.gradimages.com or by contacting Grad Images at 800-261-2576. Photos taken by the College of the day's events may be downloaded for 99 cents each at www.williamjewellphoto.com.
