A.J. “Artie” Strauss

Arthur Strauss transferred to Jewell from Phillips University and played sports for two years before being called into military service in WWI. He was an All-State selection both years in football. The Cardinals won the State Title his sophomore year. He scored 16 touchdowns as a junior playing fullback and gained 1150 yards. Strauss also lettered in baseball and track.
