Barb Macke was at Jewell from 1968-1993. She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University. She joined the WJC staff in 1968 as an instructor in Physical Education and served as sponsor of the Women’s Recreation Association (WRA) and Director of Intramural Sports for Women. Macke led the women’s athletic program as women’s athletic director and head coach of field hockey, volleyball, and tennis. Only one other conference school had a field hockey team. Jewell played mostly against NCAA I schools. Macke also guided the 1981 volleyball team to Jewell’s first conference title.
