 Hall of Fame: Tom Cox

Tom Cox
Sport(s): Basketball
Induction: October 28, 2000
Tom Cox attended Jewell from 1953-57. He was a four-year letter winner in basketball and played on two MCAU Conference Championship teams. He also played on Jewell’s first conference title team in 30 years (1954-55 squad). The Cardinals won the title in 1956-57 as well as the NAIA District 16 title which qualified them for Jewell’s first ever NAIA National Tournament appearance. They reached the second round before losing.

Cox finished his career as Jewell’s second-place all-time scoring leader. He held the scoring record of 39 points and this is still a record for a sophomore. He was also a top rebounder and averaged 10.1 rebounds per game as a junior. Cox was a First Team All-Conference selection as a junior and as a senior.
