An official TOEFL score (Test of English as a Foreign Language) . Students may meet the English requirements for admission to the College by achieving one of the following: a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper based) or 213 (computer based), or, a minimum TOEFL score of 500 (paper based) or 173 (computer based) and completion of The Language Company Level 9 with a GPA of 3.0 or above, or, a minimum TOEFL score of 500 (paper based) or 173 (computer based) and completion of The Language Company Level 9 with a GPA of 2.0-2.99 and completion of four weeks at the Language Company at the APL Level with a GPA 3.0 or above. Use William Jewell's institution code of 6941 and department code of 00 to have ETS send your scores directly to the College. If you need assistance in meeting the College English language requirements, please apply to The Language Company on William Jewell's campus. An essay (250-500 words). The admission committee will review this essay with regard to content, style and grammar. Please choose one of these topics: Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you. Describe a character in fiction, an historical figure or a creative work (as in art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you, and explain that influence. A range of academic interests, personal perspectives, and life experiences adds much to the educational mix. Given your personal background, describe an experience that illustrates what you would bring to the diversity in a college community, or an encounter that demonstrated the importance of diversity to you. Standardized test score (such as SAT or ACT). Use William Jewell's institution codes (2394 - ACT or 6941 - SAT) to have scores sent directly to the College. You cannot be considered for WJC scholarships without including scores from at least one of these tests. Official or attested copies of secondary and post-secondary transcripts, in English. All post-secondary work must be evaluated, course by course, by World Education Services (WES). College credit may be awarded based on the evaluation provided by WES. One recommendation letter from an individual who can evaluate your academic abilities. References should be faculty familiar with and able to give specific information regarding abilities, accomplishments, and potential. Documentation of financial support that proves your financial ability to pay for a WJC education. Evidence from banks and/or sponsoring agencies will be required. If you are completing the Common Application, you may skip its questions about finances. $25 (USD) non-refundable application fee. Students must also make full payment of any outstanding balance on their account for the first semester of enrollment by August 1 for fall semester entry and by January 1 for spring semester entry.
