The Department of Nursing at William Jewell College is among the recipients of $1 million in grants for Missouri colleges and universities to be used for educating nurses.
The grants, which are a part of the state’s Caring for Missourians initiative, will be given for the 2012, 2013 and 2014 fiscal years. Grant funding can be used to hire faculty, purchase educational equipment and offer scholarships. Money for the grants came from revenue generated from nursing licensing fees collected by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
The board selected both public and private colleges as grant recipients, with a maximum award of up to $150,000 per year. William Jewell received $149,750 for the 2012-2013 fiscal year.
William Jewell College is committed to bringing together talented students and gifted faculty mentors within a vibrant community sparked by a rigorous and intentional liberal arts curriculum. A full range of personal and professional development experiences are presented by the selective national liberal arts college’s location within the Kansas City metroplex of more than two million.
