Jewell Theatre of William Jewell College, Liberty, Mo., presents Alex Tracy Is Performance Art, a senior theatre performance written and performed by senior theatre major Alex Tracy of Liberty. Performances are at Peters Theater, Jan. 27 and 29 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door or by contacting the box office at 816-415-7590, or emailing theatre AT william.jewell DOT edu. Peters Theater is located inside Brown Hall on the Jewell campus.
“Alex Tracy Is Performance Art is strange,” Tracy said. “The one-man show strays from the typical format of drama in an attempt to speak to the audience--telling stories, making observations, and trying to address what makes a performance a performance and what makes art art. The show follows a winding path, informing people on how to be very loud, providing advice to budding evil overlords concerning global domination, pondering giant red buttons and when it is appropriate to have one, and encouraging the audience to participate creatively in the world. There will be puns. There will be music. There will be audience participation. There will be cake. There will be performance art.”
Tracy’s senior theatre performance is part of the graduation requirements for theatre majors at William Jewell. He wrote and assembled his play over the past year.
