WJC Handbell & Flute Choirs to perform
The WJC Handbell Choir, directed by Christie White, and the WJC Flute Choir, directed by Elaine Brown, will present a concert on Tuesday, November 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Gano Chapel on the William Jewell campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
The Handbell Choir will be performing original compositions for bells. Featured will be the choir’s two student-conductors, Anna Norberg-Eskilson from Lawrence, KS and Caitlin Flebbe from Raytown, MO. Caitlin will be conducting "Hope Eternal" by Cynthia Dobrinski that will also feature flautist Samantha Brant. Additional members of the Handbell Choir are Laura Andreas, Evan Courtney, Shane Daniel, Ashley Grys, Chris Koehn, Ann Lewis, Sara Lichti, Abigail Pratt, Elizabeth Waterland, Marcie White and Laura Williams.
The Flute Choir will feature a transcription by Mozart of a lively work, Divertimento, plus a Flute Choir classic, Blue Train by Hiroshi, featuring the entire flute family: piccolo, concert flute, alto flute and bass flute. Also included on the program is Adagio for Strings by the twentieth century American composer Samuel Barber. The members of the Flute Choir are Samantha Brant, Topeka KS; Sarah Hodson, Mason City, IA; Mary Jamerson, Trimble MO; Whitney Jones, KCMO; Sarah Robertson, Liberty MO; and Fran Webber, Alexandria, VA.
