Dr. Hatcher is a proponent of “new music” with countless premieres to her credit, while also achieving critical acclaim for her Baroque and verismo singing. During her young career, she has been praised for her portrayals of many heroines, most recently Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), Rusalka, Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana), and Leonora (La Forza del Destino and Il Trovatore), as well as her oratorio performances of the music of Handel, Bach, Schubert and David Conte. Dr. Hatcher is frequently sought after for performances of 20th- and 21st-century music, as well as for her knowledge of vocal pedagogy and repertoire. She holds a master of music degree in voice from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University and the doctorate of musical arts degree in conducting with a pedagogy emphasis from the University of Miami.
