Kansas City Baroque Consortium to perform at William Jewell Contact: Rob Eisele, 816-415-7574 January 31, 2008
The Kansas City Baroque Consortium will perform “Passions of the Soul,” a musical tribute to composer Dietrich Buxtehude, at 5 p.m. February 24 in John Gano Memorial Chapel on the William Jewell College campus in Liberty, Mo. The concert is free, but a donation is requested; tickets or reservations are not required.
The concert commemorates the 300th anniversary of the death of Buxtehude (1637-1707), a German-Danish organist and highly regarded composer of the Baroque period. The performance is led by Ryan Board, a member of the University of Missouri-Kansas City faculty and founder of Armonia, an early music vocal ensemble. The concert features performances by Kansas City’s leading Baroque performers. Featured performers include Ida Nicolosi, soprano; Kayleigh Fowler, soprano; Douglas Dodson, counter-tenor; Ryan Board, tenor; Jonathan Krinke, bass; John Schaefer, organ; and the Carray Baroque Consort, consisting of Robin Prinzing, violin; Monty Carter, violin; and Trilla Ray-Carter, cello.
