Missouri Baptist Historical Society
The Missouri Baptist Historical Society has been a significant part of Missouri Baptist life since it was founded in 1885. The Society is a voluntary, non-profit organization which seeks to provide direction, education and encouragement for the study and preservation of the history and heritage of the Baptists of Missouri.
The Society collects historical records for the Partee Center for Baptist Historical Studies at William Jewell College. The Society works to preserve Baptist history by promoting research and history writing. A newsletter and annual journal provide an opportunity to publish new research.
The Society accomplishes its mission through cooperative ventures with several Baptist denominational bodies of Missouri, the Partee Center for Baptist Historical Studies and other entities. Its ministries and services include publications of historical research, sponsorship of historical conferences, recognitions and other programs.
Society membership is open to all individuals, churches, associations, libraries and other organizations. The benefits of joining the Missouri Baptist Historical Society include: receipt of The History Lesson, the quarterly newsletter; receipt of the 'Show Me' Baptist History, the annual journal featuring articles on the people events and places that shaped the history of Baptists in Missouri; voting privileges regarding issues of the Society; special invitations to programs, lectures and events; opportunities to support the continuing education concern Baptist history and heritage.
