UNITY
Mission
In order to promote a better world with equality, opportunity and freedom for all, we dedicate ourselves to promote diversity awareness, education and understanding, discuss issues concerning discrimination and injustice worldwide, and provide an inviting forum for the expression of feelings, ideas and questions. In this mission, we call for full participation of all William Jewell College students, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, physical handicap, socioeconomic status, gender identity or sexual orientation.
Purpose
UNITY pledges itself to support the philosophy of diversity in all that it entails. Furthermore, we declare our intention to support all efforts to increase the participation of students in diversity affairs. To these ends, UNITY shall educate and train its members so they may be better able to:
- Educate students about the definition of diversity we embrace as outlined by the Cabinet and approved upon by the general assembly;
- Assist in the activities of UNITY and other like-minded organizations;
- Affect change on the local, state, national and international level.
