Photography exhibit opens Stocksdale Gallery season at William Jewell Contact: Rob Eisele, 816-415-7574 August 26, 2009
The 2009-10 exhibit season of the Stocksdale Gallery of William Jewell College begins September 2 with photography work by Erin McNeil, a senior philosophy and Oxbridge History of Ideas major. Entitled “Beyond this Vantage,” the exhibit incorporates McNeil’s favorite activities of philosophy and photography with recent work in perspective and standpoint epistemology forming the foundation for the show.
“The format is charming and deceptively simplistic, requiring the viewer to look beyond the initial standpoint presented by the arrangement of the pieces in order to form his or her own unique view,” McNeil said.
“Beyond this Vantage” will open in William Jewell’s Stocksdale Gallery on September 2nd and will run through September 19th. A community reception is scheduled for Sunday, September 6, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at the gallery.
The Stocksdale Gallery is located on the second floor of Brown Hall on the campus of William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo. The gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the academic year. All exhibits and receptions are free of charge. For more information, contact gallery director Rob Quinn atquinnr AT willliam.jewell DOT edu, or 816-781-4840.
