Recreation & Sport
Students involved in the Physical Education (9-12 Certification), Recreation and Sport majors are educated as a whole person. The department emphasizes all aspects of growth and development by focusing on the physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual aspects of each student. Students who are Physical Education majors are prepared for high school teaching and coaching positions. Students who want to pursue positions outside of the school choose the Recreation and Sport major. Their opportunities include: public parks and recreation departments, personal trainers, fitness instructors, non-profit and youth ministry activity programming, and corporate recreation.

Students interested in the Physical Education (9-12 Certification), Recreation and Sport majors are people who enjoy building relationships and developing good human-relation skills. They are also highly organized and effective communicators.
- Students are given a great deal of academic flexibility. After they complete the core classes, students have the freedom to focus their education in the direction that most interests them;
- The department is hopeful about expanding the curriculum to include an elementary school physical education certificate (K-12) and health education;
- These majors are matched with other majors on campus including business, education, communication, and religion.
