William Jewell College Handbell Choir embarks on Winter Tour Contact: Rob Eisele, 816-415-7574 January 23, 2008
The Department of Music at William Jewell College, Liberty, Mo., will be presenting a series of free concerts during the annual Handbell Choir Winter Tour. The choir performances, under the direction of Christie White, are open to the public; tickets or reservations are not required.
The schedule of performances includes:
Thursday, Feb. 7, 1:30 p.m. York Elementary School 2100 Nichols Springfield, Mo.
Thursday, Feb. 7, 7:00 p.m. Evangel Temple 2020 E. Battlefield Road Springfield, Mo.
Friday, Feb. 8, 7:30 p.m. First Presbyterian Church 505 S.E. Dewey Bartlesville, Okla.
Saturday, Feb. 9, 7:00 p.m. First Christian Church 711 5th Avenue Dodge City, Kan.
Sunday, Feb. 10, 6:00 p.m. Lee’s Summit United Methodist Church 114 S.E. Douglas Street Lee’s Summit, Mo.
The choir performs on 5-plus octaves of Malmark handbells and handchimes. The program includes sacred, secular, transcriptions and original works for handbells. Works by noted handbell composers Arnold Sherman, Dean Wagner, Kevin McChesney, Betty Garee, Fred Gramann, Cathy Moklebust, Rima Greer and Timothy Waugh will be presented.
Members of the choir include Anne Engelbrecht, student-conductor, of Springfield, Mo.; Megan Copeland of Dodge City, Kan.; and Melissa Hill of Greenwood, Mo.
