The William Jewell College theatre and music departments will collaborate on a main stage production of the popular 1970s musical “Pippin.” Performances are at 7:30 p.m. April 12, 13 and 14, with a 1:30 p.m. matinee April 14. The show will be staged in Peters Theater, on the lower level of Brown Hall on the campus in Liberty, Mo.

“Pippin’s” music and lyrics are by Stephen Schwartz, composer and lyricist of the current Broadway hit “Wicked.” The musical follows the exploits of young Pippin, son of King Charlemagne, as he attempts to find his own “corner of the sky.” The original Broadway production opened in 1972 and ran for nearly 2,000 performances. The show featured Tony Award-winning direction and choreography by Bob Fosse.
