William Jewell College is proud to announce its 2017 schedule of holiday events and festivities.
All events except the Liberty Symphony Orchestra concert are free and open to the public. Jewell’s holiday calendar includes the following events:
Hanging of the Green, 10:15 a.m., Nov. 29
John Gano Memorial Chapel, William Jewell College campus, Liberty
An all-campus musical celebration to open the holiday season, featuring the Handbell Choir, Jazz Band and Choral Scholars.
Lighting of the Quad, 7 p.m., Dec. 1
Gano Chapel and Quad, William Jewell College campus, Liberty
A celebration of the season in Gano Chapel, followed by a lighting ceremony on the Quad featuring the Symphonic Band.
Jewell Theatre Company presents “Celebrating the Green,” 8:30 p.m., Dec. 1
Peters Theater, William Jewell College campus, Liberty
The Jewell Theatre Company and the Jazz Band will present a classic holiday story combining reader’s theatre and live music. The performance will follow the Lighting of the Quad. Donations accepted for the Ghostlight Society Fund.

Ceremony of Carols, 7:30 p.m, Dec. 5
The Chapel Choir will present “A Ceremony of Carols” by Benjamin Britten, with help from Linda Thomssen on harp.
Advent Chapel, 10:15 a.m., Dec. 6
Special 500 Words address to be delivered by Dr. Elaine Reynolds, professor of history.
Concert Choir Christmas concert, 7:30 p.m., Dec. 9
Our Lady of Perpetual Help/Redemptorist Catholic Church, 3333 Broadway, Kansas City, Mo.
The Concert Choir will again perform at the church’s second annual Christmas concert.
The City Come Again, noon (music begins at 11:30 a.m.), Dec. 11
Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, Broadway at 13th Street, Kansas City
Jewell’s Christmas gift to the city in words and music, featuring the College’s Handbell and Concert Choirs, along with Dr. Ann Marie Rigler, organist. Dr. Elizabeth MacLeod Walls, president of Jewell, will participate in the program.
