The William Jewell College Handbell Choir will finish its four-date 2017 concert tour with a performance at the First Baptist Church of Raymore on Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. This year marks the choir’s 40th year.
The concerts are free and open to the public, but donations are appreciated. The concert tour includes these stops:
- Thursday, Feb. 23 – 7 p.m., Redeemer Lutheran Church, Springfield, Mo.
- Friday, Feb. 24 – 7 p.m., Shady Oaks Baptist Church, Hurst, Texas
- Saturday, Feb. 25 – 7 p.m., University United Methodist Church, Wichita, Kan.
- Sunday, Feb. 26 – 4 p.m., Raymore First Baptist Church, Raymore, Mo.
Performing on more than five octaves of handbells and handchimes, the group will present a varied program of classical transcriptions, sacred arrangements and original works. The performance will include works by noted handbell composers Barbara Baltzer Kinyon, Jason Krug, Julie Turner and Kevin McChesney, Karen Thompson and Timothy Waugh.
Members of the choir include Clayton Mansel from Springfield; Megan Moore and Jacqueline Parson from Euless and Prosper, Texas; and Alexis Mann and Meghan Recker, Wichita, Kan. Area Kansas City members include Rosie Smith, Independence; Mackenna Kemp and Riley Martin, Lee’s Summit; Shelby Moser and Elliott Yoakum, Liberty; and Margo Evilsizor, Belton.
