In today’s digital world, learning and experience are not bound by the limits of a physical campus. At Jewell, we have created a new universe — a Jewellverse — where learning among, between and led by students challenges the traditional instruction-based approach. The vision for Jewellverse is to redefine the Jewell experience for students, faculty, staff and alumni by using technology that enables access, creativity and collaboration in a 21st century higher education community. Jewellverse enables us to:

  • Build on the success of the Pryor Learning Commons (opened in August 2013), which emphasizes access, collaboration and creativity
  • Provide all students with a new iPad every two years to keep upon graduation
  • Fully integrate the student’s living/learning experience
  • Become a paperless campus
  • Reduce dependency on traditional textbooks as primary course materials
  • Provide professional development for all levels of users
  • Offer reliable wireless access anywhere on campus with an increase to 1 Gbps of bandwidth
  • Prepare students for an ever-changing digital world
The Jewellverse story is available at no cost through iTunes U. The Multi-Touch book features videos, photos and interactive media that capture the vision and integration of Jewell’s technologically sophisticated living and learning environment. For optimal viewing of interactive features, download on the iPad with the latest version of iBooks.
