Summary
Responsible for the sale and distribution of all tickets including individual, student, faculty, season, and complimentary tickets. Supervised by the Associate Executive Director.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and enforces policies regarding ticket distribution, sales, exchanges, refunds, tax credits, and complimentary tickets
  • Manages and executes all ticket transactions including online and telephone sales. Responsible for executing effective customer relations management practices including ensuring consistent phone coverage in the Harriman-Jewell Series office
  • Prepares refunds, tax credits, and complimentary tickets
  • Manages box office and staff on performance evenings as well as student staff on a day-to-day basis
  • Prepares box office reports and submits them to appropriate personnel
  • Orders tickets and all other materials related to the box office operation
  • Works with campus personnel to provide tickets for students, faculty, administration and staff
  • Prepares all mailings involving cancellations, rescheduled and unscheduled events, and related ticket information
  • Prepares and maintains patron account records and mailing lists associated with those records
  • Handles special requests for complimentary tickets from groups or charitable organizations
  • Provides assistance in pertinent office matters as well as day-to-day operations such as telephone information assistance
  • Accepts other projects and duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
College degree and one to three years experience required; box office experience helpful. Time management skills are crucial as the program runs on a season of scheduled events. Public relations and communication skills are important, as the position deals with many contacts outside the College, primarily patrons of the Harriman-Jewell Series. Requires independent judgment based on the knowledge of simple accounting techniques. Knowledge of computers and box office software is necessary.

Working Conditions
Normal office environment (Includes Box Offices in Kansas City performance halls.)

Supervisory Responsibility
Supervises eight to twelve student interns.
