“Genuine Wealth in Kansas City” is the idea to be examined at William Jewell College’s annual Justice Summit from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 8 at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center. The summit, sponsored by the College’s Center for Justice and Sustainability, is free and open to the public. Reservations are requested.

Mark Anielski, a well-being economist, entrepreneur, professor and president of Anielski Management Inc., will serve as the keynote speaker. Anielski is the developer of a genuine wealth assessment tool that measures the well-being of a community to reveal its physical, qualitative and monetary conditions. Kansas City community members will discuss the concept of genuine wealth and examine genuine wealth studies pertaining to the Kansas City area.

Anielski authored the award-winning book, The Economics of Happiness: Building Genuine Wealth, and is an international expert in the new field of economics of well-being and happiness. Alberta Venture magazine named him as one of Alberta’s 50 most influential people of 2008. He is a founding faculty member of the Bainbridge Graduate Institute in Washington, which was recognized as the first MBA program in the United States dedicated to sustainable business practices and ethics.

William Jewell’s Center for Justice and Sustainability strives to raise awareness of social, economic and ecological challenges throughout the world in order to encourage people to work to create solutions to these complex and interconnected issues.

A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided at the summit. The Kauffman Foundation Conference Center is located at 4801 Rockhill Road, Kansas City, Mo., 64110.
