Nursing is the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations (ANA, 2010). The program is based on a philosophy of nursing as a combination of scientific competence and sensitivity to human needs, with an emphasis on the well-being of the whole person. The faculty emphasizes the responsibility and accountability of the individual learner, the blending of academic and practical knowledge, and the highest degree of professional ethics.
