The Department of Political Science stands out at William Jewell because it challenges students to learn how the real world works and engage the great debates about how it should work. Current domestic and foreign policies are explored and alternatives to current policies discussed. Students in the department are regularly debating US policy in Iraq, European Union expansion, and whether Machiavelli really is a teacher of evil. They conduct high-level research in democratization and war ethics. Through it all, students explore the world of political science carefully and learn to articulate their opinions, develop solutions, and present alternatives.
