Applying for Graduation:  Students are expected to apply for graduation when they reach 75 completed hours, in order to be properly tracked by the Office of the Registrar. An Application for Graduation must be completed online to be submitted electronically to the Office of the Registrar. Students planning to graduate in May, July, and December 2016, as well as May 2017, should have applied for graduation by now. Seniors who have not applied for graduation will not be cleared to enroll in a required CTI capstone course, and will not be included in distribution of information to grad candidates. Students who change their anticipated graduation date must re-apply for graduation by submitting a new online Application to the Registrar’s Office.

Grad Fair:  The Grad Fair is held in March each year just before Spring break, which offers that year’s grad candidates the opportunity to “take care of business” in a “one-stop shop” setting in the lobby by the campus bookstore. In addition to providing needed information for specific participating departments, grads may rent their Commencement regalia beginning that day in the bookstore to take home during Spring Break (see Regalia Policy below). They may also take advantage of the opportunity to order other graduation-related items, such as announcements, rings, diploma frames, etc. Grad candidates will receive information about the Grad Fair via email beginning in January.

Jewell’s Commencement Ceremony is held in May each year.  Students eligible to participate include the previous December’s graduates and candidates for graduation for both May and July. Grad candidates must be listed as “on-track” for graduation to be eligible to walk at Commencement. The Commencement Day schedule includes Baccalaureate service that morning (participation is optional), brunch for grads and families, Commencement ceremony at 1:00 pm, and photo ops for grads immediately following Commencement.

Academic Regalia Policy and Info: Grad candidates who walk at Commencement are required to rent their regalia through the Campus Bookstore. Academic regalia includes mortar board cap, gown and hood in a specific style and red tassel to keep. (High school regalia or borrowed regalia will not be allowed.) Regalia for each May Commencement is available for rental only at the Campus Bookstore, beginning on the day of the Grad Fair in March.

Commencement Photography: Grads who walk at May Commencement will receive an email to their Jewell email account with photo proofs taken on the stage and with their diploma cover. Grads should check your Jewell email account for an email from Grad Images approximately one week after Commencement. Grads and their families who wish to purchase Commencement photographs may order online at or by contacting Grad Images at 800-261-2576. Photos of the day’s events taken by the College may be downloaded at
