Applying for Graduation: Students are expected to apply for graduation when they reach 75 completed hours, in order to be properly tracked by the Office of the Registrar. An Application for Graduation must be completed online to be submitted electronically to the Office of the Registrar. Students planning to graduate in May, July, and December 2016, as well as May 2017, should have applied for graduation by now. Seniors who have not applied for graduation will not be cleared to enroll in a required CTI capstone course, and will not be included in the distribution of information to grad candidates. Students who change their anticipated graduation date must re-apply for graduation by submitting a new online Application to the Registrar’s Office.
December 2015 Graduates: December grads are invited and encouraged to participate in the May Commencement Ceremony to “walk” with your class in academic regalia. You will receive emails during the Spring semester regarding Commencement, regalia rental, etc. Please notify the Office of the Registrar no later than April 1st if you do NOT plan to walk at Commencement. Your WJC email address will remain for your use for one full year. Please check your email regularly for updates.
Grad Fair / Announcements: Grad candidates who were unable to attend the Grad Fair were emailed a checklist of what they should do to “take care of business” before graduation and specific deadlines for some of those steps. Personalized graduation announcements and other graduation-related items may be ordered online through Herff Jones at www.collegegrad.herffjones.com.
Commencement: The 2016 Commencement Ceremony will be on Saturday, May 14th. Students eligible to participate include the previous December’s graduates and candidates for graduation for both May and July who are listed as “on-track” for graduation through the Registrar’s Office. The Commencement Day schedule includes Baccalaureate service that morning (participation is optional), brunch for grads and families, Commencement ceremony at 1:00 pm, and photo ops for grads immediately following Commencement.
Academic Regalia Policy and Info: Grad candidates who walk at Commencement are required to rent their regalia through the Campus Bookstore. Academic regalia includes mortar board cap, gown and bachelor’s hood in a specific style and a red tassel to keep. (High school regalia or borrowed regalia will not be allowed.) Regalia for each May Commencement is available for rental only at the Campus Bookstore, beginning on the day of the Grad Fair in March. (Students must be a December graduate or listed as “on-track to graduate” in May or July to rent regalia.)
