December 2017 Grad Candidates and their families and friends are invited to the December Graduation Celebration to be held on Tuesday, December 12, at 7 p.m. in Gano Chapel, followed by a reception in the Atrium of Yates-Gill College Union. Each grad candidate has received an invitation to this special event, and should RSVP to Susan Arbo (816-415-5754 or with the approximate number of guests expected to attend (there is no limit to the number of guests each grad may invite). Please RSVP by November 28.

December grads are also invited and encouraged to participate in the May Commencement Ceremony where formal cap-and-gown regalia is worn, and all of our grads/grand candidates for December, May and July are recognized in pomp and circumstance.

Grad Fair: The annual Grad Fair is held each March as a “one-stop shop” for grad candidates to take care of business in preparation for finishing their time at Jewell and for Commencement. Grad Fair 2018 will be held on Wednesday, March 7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the Bookstore Lobby. More info will be posted and sent to grad candidates at the beginning of Spring semester in January.

Commencement: The 2018 Commencement Ceremony will be on Saturday, May 12, at 1 p.m. in the Mabee Center. Several activities are scheduled throughout the day beginning with a Baccalaureate service at 9 a.m.  Watch this site for more information regarding May 2018 Commencement.

Applying for Graduation: Students are expected to apply for graduation when they reach 75 cumulative hours, in order for degree requirements to be properly tracked by the Office of the Registrar. To apply for graduation, an Application for Graduation must be completed using the eTrieve form, which is submitted electronically to the Registrar’s Office for processing. This link to this form is available here, as well as on MyJewell and Jewell Central.

Students planning to graduate in May, July, or December 2018 should have applied for graduation by now. Seniors who have not applied for graduation will not be cleared to enroll in a required CTI Capstone course, and will not be included in the distribution of information to grad candidates. Students who change their anticipated date of graduation must re-apply for graduation by submitting a new Application for Graduation (eTrieve form).

Academic Regalia Policy and Info: Grad candidates who walk at Commencement are required to rent regalia through the Campus Bookstore. Academic regalia includes mortar board cap, gown, and Bachelor’s hood (or Master’s hood) in a specific style and a red tassel to keep. High school regalia or borrowed regalia will not be allowed. Regalia for each May Commencement is available for rental only at Jewell’s Bookstore, beginning on the day of the Grad Fair (March 7, 2018). Students must be either a previous December graduate or listed as “on track to graduate” in May or July to be eligible to rent regalia.
