Time editor-at-large to speak at 72nd William Jewell Celebration of Achievement

David Von Drehle, editor-at-large for Time magazine, will deliver the address at William Jewell College’s Celebration of Achievement on March 3, held at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel-Crown Center.

Von Drehle has written many Time cover stories of the last eight years, including an essay on the 2008 Time Person of the Year, Barack Obama, which anchored the bestselling issue in the history of the magazine. He has written four books, including two that peaked on the New York Times bestseller list: Rise to Greatness: Abraham Lincoln and America’s Most Perilous Year and Triangle: The Fire That Changed America. His work has been featured on a variety of television and radio programs, including “Today,” “NBC Nightly News,” “The NewsHour,” and “Morning Edition.”

The William Jewell College 72nd annual Celebration of Achievement supports student scholarships and honors distinguished alumni who have made significant contributions in their fields. Alumni to be recognized include Dr. Lynn Hogue, professor of law emeritus at Georgia State University; Dr. Susan Mace Weeks, dean and professor of the Harris College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Texas Christian University; and Robert Nigh, Jr., chief public defender for Tulsa County, Okla.
