In January 2015 during winter break, 11 journey grant recipients traveled to rural Honduras to experience firsthand the challenges of doing community development in a difficult setting. Our team was joined by four students from UNAH CURLA, the Honduran University in La Ceiba. Our group spent a week in the village of Matagua, which is not on any map, its just about 10 miles north of the small town of Yoro. The group slept in the local schoolhouse and each student was adopted by a local family, sharing breakfast and dinner meals with their new families.
