The Shumaker Challenge
Over 250 young alumni answered the call for Phase One of the Shumaker Challenge, and Jewell benefited by receiving a generous challenge gift of $100,000 from Dianne and Paul Shumaker. Over 130 alumni and friends became inaugural members of the Circle of 1849 last fiscal year (July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005) and received a brick in their name in the Quad.
