Named for the year William Jewell College was founded, the Circle of 1849 is the institution’s premier annual giving society. Circle of 1849 members are just as significant to William Jewell’s future as that landmark date is to the College’s rich history.
The Circle of 1849 recognizes alumni, parents, and friends who play a leadership role in supporting the college by donating $1,000 or more annually to the Jewell Fund. The Jewell Fund is used to support the current needs of William Jewell’s students and faculty, and provides a powerful and flexible source of funding for the College. Gifts through the Circle of 1849 enhance student financial aid, build innovative academic programs, recruit and retain exceptional faculty, and much more.
For first-time members of the Circle of 1849, a brick bearing the donor’s name is placed along the border of the walkway that encircles the Quad. As future generations of students make their first and last ceremonial walk around the Quad, they will be surrounded by the names of committed Jewell supporters.
To join the Circle of 1849, provide an online gift of $1,000 or more to the Jewell Fund or click here for a form that can be mailed with a check (made payable to WJC, with Jewell Fund noted on the memo line) to: William Jewell College, 500 College Hill, Campus Box 1032, Liberty, MO 64068.
