| Special guest speaker for the evening Celebration of Achievement is Charlie Rose, CBS news correspondent for “60 Minutes II” and host of “The Charlie Rose Show” interview program on PBS.
This year's honorees are: ARVIL VAN ADAMS '65 holds the M.B.A degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Memphis, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Kentucky. He serves as Senior Advisor for Social Protection in the Africa Region of the World Bank. Dr. Adams is co-author of the World Bank Policy Paper on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (1991) and Skills for Productivity (Oxford University Press, 1993). He has co-authored a new book entitled Skills Development in Sub-Saharan Africa (World Bank 2004). Formerly, he was Professor of Economics and Director of the Doctoral Program in Public Policy, George Washington University from 1979-89 and served as Executive Director of the U.S. National Commission on Employment and Unemployment Statistics from 1977-79. He has been a faculty member at the University of Utah and Ohio State University. He is married to Mary A. Adams, has three children and lives in Springfield, Virginia.
GREGORY E. LUND '80 is principal of Lund Resource Group, serving as Strategic Partner in Medical Marketing to a number of the world's leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Beginning his career with Marion Laboratories as a pharmaceutical sales representative, Mr. Lund became manager of Professional Education in 1987. In 1987, he was given responsibility for Professional Education and Scientific Communication initiatives in Respiratory Medicine for then newly created Marion Merrell Dow, and ultimately, Hoechst Marion Roussel. In 1996, in creating Lund Resource Group, he has had the opportunity to work closely in the research, development and commercialization of a number of innovative and novel pharmaceuticals which have enhanced patient care in the medical fields of urology, gastroenterology, allergic disease, asthma, clinical immunology, pulmonology and critical care medicine. Mr. Lund is an affiliate member of both the European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) and the Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology (SUFU). The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) honored him with the 2002 Distinguished Layperson Award. Mr. Lund is a current member of the Board of Directors of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy Foundation in Kansas City, Missouri. Mr. Lund and his wife Marge have two daughters and reside in Liberty, Missouri.
ROSA WHITE PACE '53 received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas Law School. After passing the bar exam, she returned to her hometown of Borger, Texas, where she lives today, to practice law with her father; her brother, John T. White, joined the practice shortly thereafter. Mrs. Pace established the first Museum in Borger in 1977 and together with her brother, published the first book of the history of Hutchinson County, for which she and her brother received awards from the Texas Historical Commission. Mrs. Pace served as Chairman of the Borger Museum for 18 years and remains a member of the Hutchinson County Historical Commission. She has 800 active clients in her law practice and deals primarily with tax and probate law. Mrs. Pace received a Professionalism Award from the College of State Bar of Texas in 1996. She is a member of the Texas Bar Association, Hutchinson County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Mrs. Pace and her husband, Carroll, have three daughters.
