A grant is generally based upon an evaluation of your financial need (and therefore is called need-based aid), and may come from federal, state or college sources. Like scholarships, grants are not repaid. The following Need-Based Grants are offered at William Jewell College:
Federal Pell Grant - $400-$4,310
This grant is awarded based on demonstrated need shown on the FAFSA. The student must have an Expected Family Contribution under 4,110.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) - $200-$4,000
This grant is awarded based on demonstrated need shown on the FAFSA. The student must be a Federal Pell Grant recipient. Deadline: September 15th
Access Missouri Grant - $2,000-$3,200
The Access Missouri Grant is awarded to state residents based on demonstrated need. The FAFSA must be received by the Federal Processor on or before April 1 to be considered an on-time application (including signature requirements) and student must have an Expected Family Contribution under 12,000.
Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) - $750 (1st Year) - $1,300 (2nd Year)
The grant is awarded to qualified Federal Pell Grant recipients in the first or second year of study. Additional criteria apply.
National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (National SMART) - $4,000
The grant is awarded to qualified Federal Pell Grant recipients in the third or fourth year of study in an eligible science or mathematics major. Additional criteria apply.
Out-of-State Grant (need-based) - Varies
Incoming students who are not residents of Missouri may be eligible for this award. It was established to help out-of-state students offset the loss of state grant eligibility incurred when attending a college outside of their home states. The FAFSA and institutional aid application must be completed annually.
