Degree Descriptions

The B.S. in Business Administration combines a basic foundation of business principles with an emphasis in either Management Leadership, Banking and Finance, or Marketing; and enhances students' depth of knowledge and distinction in high-demand career fields. This approach blends a strong foundation with specific knowledge in several high-demand fields.

The B.A. in Business Administration is similar to the B.S., but includes foreign language proficiency and no specialization is required. Students looking for a more general preparation in business will find the B.A. to be more appropriate.

The B.A. in Computer Science explores broad, diverse topics such as programming, networks, the Internet, data communication, Web design, software, systems design/development, operating systems, e-commerce, mathematics, graphics and multimedia. The skills learned in the study of Computer Science can be applied in virtually every career field and academic discipline.

The B.A. in Economics explores diverse topics such as markets, allocation of resources, public finance and the money market. As an Economics major, you expand your studies and pursue mathematics, the behavioral sciences, government and history, plus a variety of topics in business. As a graduate, you are prepared to enter business, industry or education sectors trained in analyzing events and forecasting trends, or you might choose to pursue a graduate degree.

The B.A. in International Business and Languages reflects the importance of traditional business knowledge while developing decision-making capabilities in domestic and international business settings. The major emphasizes a high level of language preparation, theoretical training in international political economy and an international field experience. Your overseas experience, a distinctive feature of the major, gives you substantive exposure to one of nearly 10 different countries throughout the world in which we have business programs.

The B.S. in Accounting combines the liberal arts with skills and abilities demanded by the accounting profession. The goal of the major is to prepare you for a career in accounting or graduate studies in accounting. Click here for more information about the B.S. in Accounting.

The B.S. in Information Systems explores the creation, utilization and support of complex information processing and communication systems. The IS program emphasizes systems analysis, design, development and management within application-specific domains. At Jewell, the IS program is integrated with Business Administration to provide you with in-depth training in the principles and practices guiding business today.
