Opportunities for Growth

Mentorships The mentor program provides you with the opportunity to develop a relationship with a professional in a career field compatible with your interests. You obtain valuable career information through a deeper understanding of:
  • the mentor's organization
  • the mentor's career
  • the mentor's professional and community involvement
  • how to get started in a career
Through the Office of Career Services, you are matched with a mentor (a regional business executive or industry leader) in an area of your choice. You meet one-on-one with your mentor several times during a semester. You observe the executive at work, meet co-workers and explore career aspirations through this relationship.

Internships
The business internship opportunity is an academic program, which allows you to integrate business theory with actual business practice. This program places you with some of the best national and international businesses in the Kansas City area including Hallmark Cards, Inc., Price Waterhouse, Peat Marwick, Kansas City Royals and The Federal Reserve Bank.

Partnerships
You have an opportunity to work as a member of a faculty-led team providing consulting services and expertise to area businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Each partnership team solves well-scoped problems related to the effective operations of each business. You experience the management responsibilities and rewards of committing to and delivering quality services. Through this formal relationship your team provides valuable support in addressing a specific issue for this business.

Entrepreneurships
The entrepreneurial opportunity offers you the chance to help create, cultivate, grow and maintain an ongoing business concern. You are placed in a role of responsibility to provide the successful skills needed in today's business environment. The business concern operates for profit and provides future opportunities for those who will follow in your path.
