Student Affairs: Campus Union Activities

College Union Activities (CUA), William Jewell College’s student activities programming board, provides entertainment along with social and educational events for the benefit of the campus and surrounding community.  Past events sponsored by CUA includes concerts, lectures, comedians, hypnotists and illusionists, campus contests and games, dances, off-campus amusements, and much more!

CUA was created in 1957, by Dean of Students William Holzapfel, as a way to popularize Yates College Union and make it the center of activity for students. Over the years, student volunteers have been an important part of CUA’s evolution. From Jimmy Carter in the 80’s to Sarah McLachlan in the 90’s, CUA continually provides the WJC community with programs people want to attend. The legacy of CUA is that of providing quality entertainment and an ongoing student commitment to enriching the WJC community through involvement.

CUA’s membership is open to all students and serves all students.  If you like organizing events, would like to learn in-depth about the entertainment industry (contracts, event planning, personalities, etc), have ever wondered about student activities as a professional career option, or just looking to have a good time with friends, CUA is for you!  For more information about joining CUA or to find out about CUA meetings, contact the Director of Student Activities at William Jewell College at (816) 415-5931.
